Louisiana State Police Commission Announces 2026 Distinguished Service Award Recipients

Baton Rouge, LA — The Louisiana State Police Commission has named Master Trooper Charles Robertson of Troop L and Lieutenant Kory Borcherding of Troop NOLA as recipients of its 2026 Distinguished Service Award, the Commission's career excellence award for classified members of the State Police Service.
Master Trooper Robertson, a 19-year LSP veteran and Army combat veteran, has served Troop L with distinction as a Crisis Negotiation Team leader, Motors officer, and crash reconstructionist, earning a decades-long reputation for exceptional service and community engagement throughout the Northshore.
Lieutenant Borcherding, an 18-year LSP veteran, is one of the most credentialed law enforcement trainers in the nation. As Training Academy Operations Supervisor and State FTO Coordinator, he redesigned LSP's cadet curriculum and statewide field training program, and has earned national recognition, including the IACP Instructor of the Year and FBI-LEEDA Trilogy awards.
The award was presented at the Louisiana State Police Awards Ceremony. The Commission honored both recipients with resolutions read at the May 14, 2026, Commission meeting. The Commission congratulates both recipients on this well-deserved honor.
