|JOB TITLE:||State Police Technical Support Officer Supervisor|
FUNCTION OF WORK:
To serve as the Technical Support Officer Supervisor within the State Police Technical Support Unit. Make complex multifaceted decisions on various forms of forensics and legislative guidelines relating to the Technical Support Unit for the Office of State Police.
LEVEL OF WORK:
Broad review from a State Police Captain or higher level State Police personnel.
Direct line over State Police Technical Support Officer Trainees, State Police Technical Support Officers, and State Police Technical Support Senior Officers.
LOCATION OF WORK:
Department of Public Safety and Corrections; Office of State Police; Technical Support Unit; statewide.
Differs from the State Police Technical Support Senior Officer by having responsibility of direct supervision over the Technical Support Unit.
Differs from the other State Police job positions by the specialty in the field of electronic forensics, and electronic surveillance equipment.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Performs all functions of a commissioned State Police Trooper.
Oversee all facets of the Technical Support Unit.
Oversee the proper operation of pen registers, pings, and wiretaps.
Oversee the installation of covert audio and video surveillance devices in buildings, vehicles, and on people.
Coordinates eavesdropping countermeasure sweeps using electronic countermeasure equipment and performs physical inspections of the sweep area.
Attends schools to stay abreast of continual advances in equipment and technique in the area of electronic surveillance and countermeasures.
Develops and implements policies and procedures about functional operations.
Directs and coordinates the development and operation of computer-related systems for the unit; conducts cost analyses for computer hardware, software, and vendor services; guides short and long-range planning for all technological-related needs; and, provides representation for the agency on various evaluation groups.
Performs in-house staff inspections which cover all phases of organization management and activities of a section and provides information for comprehensive analysis of performance.
Reviews leave requests, overtime reports, expense account vouchers, outside employment requests, and other similar items in the supervision of personnel.
Assist the Deputy Superintendent in interpreting and integrating into the strategies, plans and programs, new laws, executive orders, and other regulations affecting the section.
Administers all forms of training for the State Police to provide information and education for the general public.
Establishes staff and organizational priorities for the allocation of assets, equipment, and other resources.
Provides assistance to local, state, and federal enforcement agencies.
Guide the implementation of operational plans and procedures during special operations or emergency conditions.
Two years as a State Police Technical Support Senior Officer or five years as a State Police Technical Support Officer.
